A care level indicates how much help a person needs. Some people are elderly or ill. They need help with daily activities—for example, washing or getting dressed—or they cannot eat on their own. In such cases, they are assigned a care level. There are five care levels:
- Care Level 1 means: You need very little help.
- Care Level 5 means: You need a great deal of assistance.
The care level helps you receive support—for example, financial assistance or a caregiver. Anyone can apply for a care level. You must submit an application to the long-term care insurance fund. An assessor will then visit you to evaluate what you can do in your daily life. Afterward, the long-term care insurance fund will determine your care level.
You will receive a notice. You can then receive assistance or money.
